Man dies and teen missing after NYE boating accident at Palm Beach north of Sydney

A frantic marine search is under way to find a 14-year-old boy missing after a fatal boating accident on New Year’s Eve.

The teen was a passenger on a vessel that capsized near Barrenjoey Headland at Palm Beach in Sydney just after 11.30am on Wednesday.

Surf lifesavers pulled one man from the water but despite treatment from paramedics he could not be saved.

He is yet to be formally identified.

A second man who scrambled onto rocks was winched to safety by the Toll Ambulance Rescue Helicopter and is currently receiving treatment.

Marine Area Command, PolAir and Marine Rescue NSW are currently searching for the teen.

Anyone with information should contact Northern Beaches police or Crime Stoppers.
