Two of Adelaide’s most acclaimed dining rooms have once again been recognised on the global stage.
Restaurant Botanic and Penfolds Magill Estate Restaurant have both secured places on La Liste 2026, one of the world’s most selective guides for discerning diners and travellers. Built on a compilation of more than 1100 expert sources alongside millions of online reviews, La Liste takes scores from critics, publications and trusted guides to identify the world’s most consistently outstanding restaurants.
For Restaurant Botanic, the recognition is familiar territory. The Adelaide restaurant has again been ranked joint 14th best restaurant globally, holding its position among an elite international cohort that includes Bogotá’s El Chat, Alain Ducasse’s Paris institution Le Meurice, and Cheval Blanc by Peter Knogl (Grand Hôtel Les Trois Rois), which shared top spot with 9 others.
Set within the Adelaide Botanic Garden, Restaurant Botanic’s approach remains firmly rooted in place. Under executive chef Jamie Musgrave, the tasting menu draws heavily on native Australian ingredients and a close network of bespoke producers, with elements sourced directly from the Gardens themselves. Marron, green ants, finger limes and bunya branch feature not as novelty, but as a natural extension of the landscape surrounding the dining room.
Penfolds Magill Estate Restaurant also strengthened its global standing this year, ranking 34th worldwide. Perched above the historic Magill vineyards – where Penfolds began more than 180 years ago – and led by chef Scott Huggins, the restaurant continues to be one of South Australia’s most recognisable fine-dining destinations. Contemporary Australian cooking is paired with one of the country’s most celebrated wine collections, drawing a steady flow of international diners.
Across the country, more than 20 Australian restaurants featured on La Liste 2026. Sydney’s Oncore by Clare Smyth led the local field, followed by Vue de Monde, Attica and Quay.
Drawn from an extensive global pool of critics and reviews, La Liste 2026 confirms what locals already know. The food here belongs on the world stage, and our global cred is only growing stronger.
