The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency has arrested 34 people, including 15 foreign nationals, for their alleged involvement in an online investment scam that deceived citizens by promising high returns.
Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar disclosed the arrests while addressing a press conference on Thursday, accompanied by NCCIA Additional Director Tariq Nawaz. He said the suspects attracted victims through fraudulent investment schemes and assured them of large profits.
Lanjar said the accused showed victims fabricated profit figures by giving them access to fake online dashboards designed to resemble legitimate investment platforms.
During the operation, authorities seized 37 computers, 40 mobile phones, more than 10,000 SIM cards, and six illegal gateway exchanges. Lanjar said the SIM cards were used to create fake accounts on social media platforms and Telegram.
NCCIA officials confirmed that the arrests took place in DHA Phase I and DHA Phase VI. Of the total suspects, 19 are Pakistani nationals while 15 are foreigners.
Additional Director Tariq Nawaz said investigators are continuing to collect technical evidence related to the case.
Lanjar praised the NCCIA’s handling of the operation and said cybercrime poses a serious threat to public trust and financial security. He added that the Sindh government remains committed to taking strict action against organized cybercrime networks.
