Earlier in his career, he appeared on two of television’s most iconic comedies. On Seinfeld, he played Joe Mayo and on Friends he appeared as Dr Roger, whose unconventional personality made him an unforgettable short-term love interest for Monica.

News of his passing has prompted an outpouring of tributes from fans and colleagues who remembered him as a performer who brought warmth and humour to every role.

“I don’t like to be the guy who post pics with celebrities that pass. But this guy wasn’t just a celebrity to me. He was a friend. One of the best dues I knew with a PERFECT sense of humor,” comedian Josh Ryes wrote on X.

Finn trained in comedy and improvisation before building a steady career in film and television. He had many guest and recurring roles in series including Murphy Brown, Ed, The Drew Carey Show, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Two Broke Girls.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Donna Crowley Finn, and their three children, Cassidy, Caitlin and Ryan.
