Hello from Health for Haiti! As we enter into the holiday season and 2025 comes to a close, we would like to thank the generous donors who have helped our friends in Haiti through a very difficult year. Even with the challenges of continued instability, gang violence, food insecurity, and the devastating flood – because of your partnership we made important positive progress this year. That progress is worth acknowledging and celebrating.
Sometimes, because we are so separated by distance and culture and language and circumstances – it is easy to lose sight of the individuals who benefit from access to healthy food, clean drinking water, and a school that provides high quality education for hundreds of students. Each member of the Grande Saline community is a unique person with challenges and hopes and dreams, doing their best with what they have. Below, as part of our brief 2025 update, you will hear from just a few of our friends in Haiti who wanted to personally share their thanks and holiday wishes.
GARDEN: With your help, in 2025 we doubled the size of the community garden and had a very successful rice harvest. Many members of the community assist in the garden and contribute to the success of this critical and sustainable project. Produce from the garden remains within the community and helps to provide a school lunch.
WATER: You also helped to support continued access to clean safe drinking water. The water filtration system has been filtering the river water, making it safe to drink, for just over ten years. The impact of this project on the health of the community is enormous.
In the video below, we hear from Grande Saline community member, Mr. Estimable Joel. He is explaining how important the water is to everyone in the community. He tells us that without safe and clean water from the system, people will have health problems. Mr. Joel tells us that if people drinks the river water it makes them very sick. He says he is happy because the system is providing safe drinking water. He sends his thanks to the team that makes this possible. Thank you for everyone who has supported ten years of clean water and better health for families in Grande Saline.
EDUCATION: Your donations also helped to provide quality education for hundreds of children in Grande Saline. We are especially grateful for the donations that helped to replace school supplies after the flood. We have dedicated and professional teachers who share their time and talents with the local children, and students who work hard under difficult circumstances and appreciate the opportunity to learn. There is so much pride in the school, it is the heart of the community. Thank you for giving the priceless gift of knowledge.
In the videos below you will hear some of the teachers and students as they share a few brief end of year messages.
