Ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, actor-politician Vijay made an appearance at his party’s Christmas event at Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Mahabalipuram. The celebration was kept low-key, with Vijay interacting with young fans, cutting a cake, and lighting the Christmas tree.
Several videos and pictures of Vijay were shared on social media by his fan pages. In one of the clips on X, he can be seen cutting a huge cake with children and feeding them with his own hands. In another video, he can be seen lighting up the tree and receiving flowers from kids on the stage.
During his speech at the event, Vijay spoke about compassion and resilience, even referring to a biblical story. The actor-politician said, “Affection and compassion are the foundation for everything. A mother’s heart has both these traits. And our Tamil Nadu is also such a land that offers motherly affection. Even though the ways of living and worshipping are different, aren’t we all brothers? The Bible contains many stories that explore the power of faith. To mention one specifically… There once was a young man whose own brothers became jealous of him. They pushed him into a dilapidated well. Yet he recovered, returned, and eventually became the King of that country. He then not only saved the brothers who betrayed him, but also the country itself. I don’t think it is necessary for me to tell you who that specific story is about. On this occasion, I give you an assurance — both I and the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) are 100 per cent committed to protecting social and religious harmony without any compromise. A light will definitely be born, and that light will lead the way for us. Wish you all a merry Christmas. Praise the lord! Stay confident. Good things will happen. Victory is certain.”

Many fans flooded the comments section of the posts with adorable remarks for the Jana Nayagan actor. “Pookie,” a user wrote in the caption alongside a picture of Thalapathy Vijay, in which he was wearing Christmas party glasses. Another comment read, “Cute anna.” “I also want the same pair of glasses,” a person commented in Tamil.
On the work front, Vijay will next be seen in the highly-anticipated film Jana Nayagan. Directed by H. Vinoth, the film will hit theatres on January 9, ahead of Pongal festival. It will be the actor’s last film before he enters politics full-time. The movie also features Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, and Narain.
