Perth Glory made it back-to-back wins in the Ninja A-League after defeating Adelaide United 1-0 at the Sam Kerr Football Centre.
Both sides had several half chances in what was a cagey first half however it was the home side who broke the deadlock in the 39th minute.
Initially challenging for a ball into the box, forward Rola Badawiya found herself in the right place at the right time, slamming home Bronte Trew’s knockdown to register her third goal in seven Ninja A-League matches for Perth.
Ahead at the break, Perth looked to bag a second soon after the restart and saw a great chance go begging when Trew raced through on goal and opted to shoot from a wide angle rather than square the ball to the unmark Badawiya inside the box.
LATE DRAMA: Dramatic equaliser keeps Canberra United streak intact after storm interrupted clash
Adelaide United forward Erin Healy fashioned her side’s best chance of the second half, turning her defender brilliantly on the edge of the box however she dragged her shot wide of the far post when through on goal.
Brought on to finish the game, substitute Susan Phonsongham came close to adding Perth’s second in the 84th minute but having turned her defender inside out, the midfielder then bent her effort wide of the far post.
Adelaide had one final throw of the dice in their search for an equaliser as they were awarded a freekick on the edge of the box deep into stoppage time, however Paige Zois fired the set-piece over the bar.
