The Philippines has become a hotbed for developing terrorists and militant cells and is home to members of Islamic State East Asia (ISEA) — an officially recognised affiliate of Islamic State.
Now Philippines police are looking into two other men from Sydney who reportedly travelled to the same place in the country at the same time as the accused Bondi terrorists.

According to the Daily Telegraph, authorities are probing whether the men crossed paths with the Akrams during their month long stay.
.Local police are also investigating what was discussed during a meeting the Akrams had with a Muslim cleric.
According to the federal government ISEA has conducted frequent and violent attacks against Philippines government and local sectarian targets, including suicide bombings.
“ISEA remains a deadly terrorist threat in the Philippines, with the Southeast Asia country a target destination for foreign terrorist fighters,” Australian National Security says.
The elder Akram was killed by police during the terror attack while Naveed was critically injured and taken to hospital.
He has since been charged with 59 offences related to the shooting.
Sajid’s wife, meanwhile, has thrown burial plans for her late husband into limbo, declaring he wants nothing to do with him.
His body remains here in the morgue at the coroner’s office. 7NEWS can reveal his estranged wife has signed it over to the government for a destitute burial.
