Adelaide residents can expect a fairly mild but changeable stretch of weather in the days ahead, with a mix of cloud, sunshine and rising temperatures, according to the latest forecast from the Bureau of Meteorology.
A high-pressure system currently sitting south of Western Australia is extending a ridge across South Australia, influencing conditions statewide. This system is expected to gradually move east across the Bight today before shifting into the Tasman Sea by late Tuesday, helping shape the week’s weather pattern.
Today in Adelaide will be partly cloudy, with temperatures reaching a top of 23 degrees. South-westerly winds of 25 to 35 kilometres per hour are forecast, easing and shifting southerly during the evening. Rain is unlikely, with just a 20 per cent chance of showers.
Similar conditions are forecast for Monday, with partly cloudy skies and cooler overnight temperatures. The city can expect a minimum of 12 degrees and a maximum of 23 degrees, with only a five per cent chance of rain. Winds will be mainly southerly at 15 to 25 kilometres per hour, tending south-easterly and strengthening slightly during the day.
By Tuesday, summer-like conditions make a brief return, with sunny skies and a noticeable jump in temperature. Adelaide is forecast to reach a maximum of 30 degrees after a cool overnight low of 11 degrees. Winds will be east to south-easterly at 20 to 30 kilometres per hour, easing during the afternoon before picking up again in the evening.
Marine conditions remain a key watch point, with strong wind warnings issued for coastal waters. A warning is in place today for the Spencer Gulf and the Lower South East Coast, with the Spencer Gulf warning continuing into Monday. Boaters and mariners are urged to check the latest coastal and local waters forecasts before heading out.
Across the rest of South Australia, light showers are expected today along the western and southern coasts and ranges, while isolated showers and possible thunderstorms in the far north are forecast to clear during the day. Looking ahead to Wednesday, most of the state will be dry, with only isolated showers or thunderstorms developing in the far northeast during the afternoon.
