The Punjab government has decided to extend the registration period of private schools across the province, moving away from the existing one-year system.
According to reports, the new policy will extend the registration period by four additional years, effectively granting private schools registration for a total of five years.
The change is aimed at reducing administrative hurdles and easing the process for private institutions seeking affiliation with education boards. Officials say the longer registration term will provide greater stability to schools and limit the need for frequent renewals.
As part of the revised mechanism, a representative from private schools in each district will be included in the registration committee.
The School Education Department has begun preparing a formal summary for the proposed extension, which will be submitted to the Punjab chief minister for approval.
Once the summary receives clearance, the new five-year registration framework will be implemented across the province, benefiting thousands of private schools.
