The Pakistan Super League (PSL) roadshow at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London brought cricket fans together, but a light-hearted remark from Wasim Akram ended up stealing the spotlight.
The event was chaired by Akram, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi and former captain Ramiz Raja.
While explaining how T20 leagues operate around the world, Akram praised the PSL for being short, fast, and easy to follow.
He then made a humorous comment about the Indian Premier League (IPL), saying,
The best thing about PSL is that it lasts for 34 days or a bit more next year. It’s not three months long like other league. Bachay bade ho jatay hain, woh league khatam hi nahi hoti.
His remark quickly became the most-talked-about moment of the night.
Akram has worked in the IPL as a commentator and was part of the league in its early years. However, he pointed out that the IPL now stretches to almost three months, with its 2025 season running from March 22 to June 3.
The IPL usually stretches over two months and includes close to 74 matches from the league rounds to the knockouts, making it one of the longest cricket tournaments in the world.
In contrast, the PSL is much shorter. With only six teams, the tournament usually lasts just over a month. The next edition is scheduled to begin in May 2026.
