The best from across the Ninja A-League Women will take on the giants of women’s football, Chelsea FC, in a blockbuster clash at Allianz Stadium on Wednesday August 12 as part of the 2026 Sydney Super Cup.
Chelsea, champions of the Women’s Super League (WSL) for the last six years, boasts a number of the best players in world football, including CommBank Matildas and former Ninja A-League stars Sam Kerr and Ellie Carpenter.
For the A-League Women All Stars, the showpiece event will be their second ever match, having first faced Arsenal Women in front of more than 42,000 fans in 2024. The side from the Ninja A-League Women, the top-ranked league in Asia, is set to showcase Matildas, All Whites and other internationals and young national team representatives.
The exhibition match is set to be Kerr’s first match for Chelsea on Australian shores, and will see the Matildas’ captain face current national teammates and former rival clubs, having played 95 games in the Ninja A-League Women when she first burst onto the scene.
The match will feature as part of the 2026 Sydney Super Cup that will also see English Premier League heavyweights, Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur, take on Isuzu UTE A-League Men sides Western Sydney Wanderers and Sydney FC, before they face each other in a London Derby in the harbour city.
Brisbane Roar and Matildas star Tameka Yallop said: “I loved every minute of the first-ever A-League All Stars Women match when we took on Arsenal last May. It’s a fantastic opportunity for the stars from across the Ninja A-League to test themselves against the best in the world, and also for football fans to see the exciting talent we have playing locally.
“I can’t wait to see another packed out stadium, and come up against Matilda teammates and a Chelsea squad packed with stars of the women’s game.”
Stephen Conroy, APL Executive Chairman added: “The 2026 Sydney Super Cup is set to be a fantastic exhibition of world-class football. It’s a great opportunity for the international talent across our leagues to test themselves against giants of world football.
“Admittedly, I’m a Chelsea fan, but my allegiance will be with the Isuzu UTE A-League sides as they face English Premier League opposition, and of course with the A-League All Stars Women as the international heroes from the Ninja A-League take on Sam Kerr’s Chelsea FC.”
Tickets for the Sydney Super Cup will go on sale to the general public on Friday 12 December via the Sydney Super Cup website: www.sydneysupercup.com.
