The news that there would more anime in the Code Geass franchise, which traditionally features original character designs from manga collective CLAMP, was revealed last December.

The multimedia franchise began with the Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion anime, which ran from 2006 to 2008 with two seasons. Crunchyroll describes it as such:

The year is 2017 of the Imperial calendar and parts of the world are under the control of the Holy Britannian Empire. Lelouch Lamperouge, an exiled Britannian prince, encounters a strange girl known as C.C., who gifts him with a great and terrible power. The Geass. With this powerful ability, Lelouch can get anyone to do as he wills. But the power of Geass: is it a blessing…or a curse?

Later anime entries include OVAs, a recap film series with continuity differences, a sequel to the recaps titled Code Geass Lelouch of the Re;surrection, and the Code Geass: Akito the Exiled spin-off series. The last anime instalment, Code GeassRozé of the Recapture, was released in 2024 on Disney+ (with theatrical screenings in Japan as well) and takes place after Lelouch of the Re;surrection.
