Luxurious dessert spot Gelato Messina will open a brand new store in Glenelg on Tuesday 16 December 2025. It will be the brand’s second South Australian location.
If you’ve tried the cult-status gelato that Messina serves up over in Kent Town, you’ll know this is amazing news. Think mid-century decor, a luminescent board full of devilishly good flavours to browse while you’re in line, and some of the tastiest gelato you will have tried.

The Kent Town spot has been met with a very warm reception since opening early last year. With requests upon requests for another SA spot, the team is now delivering. Gelato Messina Glenelg will make its way to Shop 1/1 Colley Terrace in mid-December.
The store will offer the full 40–flavour gelato cabinet. It will include 35 classic flavours and five rotating weekly specials. Gelato cakes will be available. House-made dulce de leche jars and Messina merch will also be stocked.
Glenelg is also home to Shadow Baking, the venue’s sister bakery located nearby. The team sees the new store as a natural fit for summer crowds.

Messina founder Nick Palumbo and his brother Danny grew up in Adelaide. The company says the new store holds a special meaning for the family.
The shop has been designed by Adelaide-based architects Sans Arc. The studio also designed the Kent Town store.

To mark the launch, an exclusive flavour will debut in Glenelg. ‘Glenelg Dreaming’ features watermelon sorbet and lychee mousse. Yum!
Customers can download the new Messina App for double points during the first week of opening.
There’s no doubt Gelato Messina will fit the bill and blend seamlessly into Glenelg’s bustling seaside offerings. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to grab a cone stacked with at least two flavours and take a leisurely stroll across the sand. I scream, you scream, we all scream for gelato.
