Pakistanis File Over 142,000 Cybercrime Complaints in 2025

Pakistanis filed 142,272 cybercrime complaints in 2025, according to official data presented in Parliament by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

The written response shows that authorities opened 26,036 regular inquiries, while the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCIA) registered 1,955 cases.

During the year, courts convicted 31 accused and acquitted 122, reflecting the low conviction rate commonly flagged in cybercrime enforcement.

The minister also shared a five-year breakdown, stating that 98,206 inquiries were registered over the period. Of these, 53,717 were disposed of, while 51,696 remain pending. Over the same five years, law-enforcement agencies registered 7,690 FIRs, disposed of 3,505, and still have 4,185 pending.

The figures underline the sharp rise in reported cyber offences and the growing strain on investigative capacity nationwide.
