PTA Warns Not to Share OTPs Amid Rising Cyber Fraud Scams
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) issued an urgent advisory on November 30, 2025, warning citizens to be cautious of scammers impersonating PTA officials, bank representatives, or courier services to steal sensitive data, including OTPs, CNIC numbers, and passwords.
Fraudsters use fake calls, SMS, or messages with suspicious links to trick users, a tactic seen in prior alerts on parcel scams and deceptive verification codes.
PTA stresses that genuine entities never request such details unofficially, urging vigilance to prevent identity theft and financial losses.
Victims should report incidents immediately via PTA’s Complaint Management System (CMS) portal, toll-free helpline 0800-55055, or the CMS app for swift action against rogue numbers.
