Winter Session: Congress Moves Motion To Discuss Special Intensive Revision And BLO Deaths

As the Winter Session of Parliament begins today, the Congress party has moved a motion to discuss the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Congress MP Manikam Tagore asserted, ‘We want discussion on the S.I.R. which is an attack on democracy.’ He also highlighted the alleged negligence of the Election Commission, stating that the ‘arrogance’ of the body is leading to the deaths of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) due to increased work pressure. The Opposition is set to raise issues of electoral irregularities and the safety of election workers during the session.
