South Australia has locked in one of its biggest events for the long haul, with Premier Peter Malinauskas confirming the bp Adelaide Grand Final will continue to ignite the city’s streets through to 2034.
The landmark deal with Supercars ensures the pinnacle showdown of the motorsport calendar stays right where fans say it belongs — in the heart of Adelaide. Since its debut in 1999, more than 6.1 million spectators have poured through the gates, helping to cement its reputation as the nation’s greatest motorsport event — and a fan favourite globally.
After roaring back to life in 2022, the event has surged in popularity, crowned the Best Event by Supercars fans for the past three years and already sitting proudly in the Supercars Hall of Fame. The late racing icon Murray Walker once called Adelaide “the best touring car event in the world” — and locals have never forgotten it.
The return has also been an economic heavyweight. Last year’s event pumped a massive $72.6 million into the South Australian economy, with early signs pointing to even bigger numbers this summer — hotels are already filling fast and organisers are gearing up for bumper crowds.
Premier Malinauskas says the results speak for themselves:
“When we made the decision to bring back this event, we knew it had capacity to grow and generate even more economic opportunity for our state — and it has delivered.”
Supercars CEO James Warburton agrees, describing Adelaide as a dream location for the sport’s newly-revamped Final series:
“Nothing matches the atmosphere, the history, and the sheer excitement of racing through the streets of Adelaide.”
And for fans? It means the tradition continues — the sights, the sounds, the chaos, the citywide electricity.
Adelaide Grand Final Chief Executive Mark Warren says South Aussies can take full credit:
“The passion of South Australians and the backing of the Government make this event truly world-class.”
With the bp Adelaide Grand Final now locked in for another decade, the future is full throttle — more racing, more economic impact, and more unforgettable summers in the CBD.
