Philadelphia officer seriously hurt after being attacked by a dog
PHILADELPHIA — A Philadelphia police officer was seriously hurt after being attacked by a dog in the Olney section of the city.
Officers responded to the 5200 block of Arbor Street on reports of a domestic disturbance around 8:45 Saturday night.
Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace says a dog charged a female officer who responded to the scene to mediate the situation.
Pace says the officer’s partner shot the dog after it latched on to her arm.
The animal died a short time later.
The officer was taken to the hospital for treatment for the bite that police describe as a significant injury to her upper arm.
