Wellington Phoenix 0-1 Macarthur Bulls: A-League Round 5 highlights

Macarthur Bulls substitute Harry Sawyer was the hero on Saturday after coming off the bench to sink Wellington Phoenix 1-0 in the Isuzu UTE A-League.

With the Round 5 fixture petering out for a draw at Sky Stadium, Bulls head coach Mile Sterjovski turned to Sawyer with 14 minutes of regulation remaining in Wellington.

Sawyer stepped up and made himself a super-sub seven minutes later after squeezing the ball underneath Phoenix goalkeeper Josh Oluwayemi.

It was Macarthur’s first away goal of the 2025-26 campaign as the Bulls striker celebrated his second goal of the season after Phoenix defender Isaac Hughes saw his glancing header flash inches wide of the post moments earlier.

As for Wellington, whose wait for a clean sheet stretched to 17 matches, they registered their first shot on target in stoppage time – Carlo Armiento’s thunderous long-range effort sensationally kept out by Filip Kurto.
