A Whisper of Silence
Encased in a leaden capsule
Framed by snarls of branches
Outlining the frozen abyss
A path muted by echoing reserve
Lashes held in ice-coated lacework
Her stony eyes flicker through the onslaught of pellets
Alone, still, penetrated
Continue forward
One step,
two,
three
Crack
Her heart bashes through her ribcage
She turns
Eyes scanning the unyielding chasm
Crack
Crack
CRACK
The shatter of encapsulated stillness
Slipping, sliding, pushing through the ivory walls
She runs
A fog of quickening breaths
Clouding her sight
Then,
Branches breaking, a deafening sound
Something coming from above
She stops, eyes shifting to the sky
Claws of icicles
A face of rigid, colorless peaks
Mouth stretching, a cave of pearlescent ice
She wails, devoured
The bleak landscape absorbing her fear
The monster takes back to the sky
Its prey a quickly fading memory
Nothing left but
A whisper of silence
Choose one emotion you struggle with the most and write a poem that puts the reader in the shoes of what that emotion feels like to you
