Adelaide weather forecast for Tuesday November 3rd and the days ahead

Adelaide is in for a fairly changeable week, with sunshine today giving way to a cooler, showery middle of the week before milder spring weather returns by Sunday and a warmer start shapes up for next Monday. For locals, that means a good window to enjoy the sun (& Melbourne Cup festivities) today, but it will be worth keeping a jacket handy from Wednesday as a gusty change moves through and drags temperatures down.

Today is the pick of the working week, with a sunny day across Adelaide and a top of 23 degrees in the city, nudging a little warmer in spots like Elizabeth. Winds will stay light for most of the day, shifting westerly in the afternoon before easing again later on. It’s a calm and comfortable spring day overall, with no rain expected, although the UV will be very high, so sun protection is a must between 9am and 5pm..

Conditions turn more unsettled on Wednesday as a cold front moves over the south of the state. Adelaide is expected to see partly cloudy skies with a medium chance of showers, most likely in the morning and early afternoon. The mercury will dip to a top of 21 degrees after an overnight low of 14, and the bigger story will be the winds, which are set to swing from light to northwesterly and then quickly freshen into strong southwesterlies by the middle of the day. It’s one of those classic blustery Adelaide spring days where it can feel noticeably cooler than the forecast top suggests.

By Thursday, the city starts to settle again, though the cooler air lingers. Adelaide is forecast to reach just 20 degrees after a low of 11, with partly cloudy skies and only a very slight chance of any lingering shower activity. Skies should clear as the day goes on, and winds will gradually ease by evening.

Friday brings another small change, though not as dramatic as Wednesday’s. The morning should stay mostly sunny before cloud starts to build, with a slight chance of a shower later in the day and into the evening. Temperatures will edge back up to 23 degrees, with light winds becoming moderate from the west before turning south to southwesterly in the afternoon.

The weekend looks cooler again on Saturday, with a partly cloudy day and a top of 19 degrees under southerly to southeasterly winds. It should stay dry for most people, making it a decent day for getting out and about, even if it won’t feel especially warm. Sunday is shaping up as the brighter day of the weekend, with sunshine returning and temperatures lifting to 23 degrees after a chilly morning low of 9.

Looking ahead to Monday, Adelaide warms up nicely to 28 degrees under partly cloudy skies. There is a slight chance of a shower, but at this stage it looks like a much milder day with east to northeasterly winds helping push temperatures up again.

Across the rest of South Australia, the statewide pattern follows a similar story, though with more wintry conditions across southern districts and warmer air hanging on further north and west. Morning fog patches are possible today through central and western districts, while Wednesday’s front is expected to spread showers across the agricultural areas and may bring thunderstorms to eastern parts. Rainfall totals through to the end of Friday are generally expected to stay light in many districts, but the southern agricultural area is likely to pick up between 2 and 10mm, with possible falls of 10 to 20mm in the Lower South East and with thunderstorms. Coastal communities can also expect gustier conditions around the midweek change and again on Friday, especially on local waters.

Strong Wind Warning for the following areas:
Central Coast, South Central Coast, Spencer Gulf, Investigator Strait, Upper South East Coast and Lower South East Coast
