Jaylen Brown addressed a report from NBC Sports Boston’s Brian Scalabrine that stated Brown had requested a trade from the Celtics.

Scalabrine said Brown had a list of demands for the team and ultimately requested a trade. Brown said the reported information was false.

“I guess it is what it is. I saw that. I saw Scal made some comments,” Brown said Wednesday. “Never had any issues with Scal, but I guess he’s doing what he has to do. I can understand why he feels the need to do that, but I have no interest in letting false allegations follow me to my next chapter in Philadelphia.

“I never demanded a trade. I never made a list of ultimatums, none of the sort and that is true. But as of now I’m going to focus on what’s in front of me here in Philadelphia. I’ve got a tremendous opportunity, and I’m looking forward to that.”

During an appearance on Sirius XM earlier this week, Scalabrine said that Brown was living in his own reality and making things up. Scalabrine said Brown had called some of his Celtics teammates and gauged their interest on potentially joining the Bucks.

Brown’s name was floated in trade rumors to Milwaukee this summer, but the Bucks ultimately sent Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Heat instead of the Celtics. The Celtics later traded Brown to Philadelphia for Paul George and a pair of first-round picks.

Scalabrine later said on NBC Sports Boston that he didn’t know what Brown’s demands to the Celtics were and that he “technically” did not request a trade.

Brown posted a blue baseball cap emoji in the comments section of an Instagram video of Jayson Tatum saying he was unaware of the Brown trade until it happened, seemingly accusing Tatum of not being completely truthful about the subject.

“My point of all this is if you’re actually doing that and you’re going and saying that Tatum is the one that’s lying, your whole basis of this thing is a lie,” Scalabrine said during his Sirius XM report.

Several broadcasters, including Scalabrine, TV play-by-play announcer Drew Carter, and radio play-by-play announcer Sean Grande, received backlash from local sports radio hosts for poking fun at Brown during recent broadcasts.

The three of them each riffed on a comment from Brown about Tatum. Tatum has a great PR team, Brown said, while addressing the tension between the two. Jokes that referenced the PR comments were made during both the Celtics radio and TV broadcasts since they were made.

“If I were to do PR work for Jayson Tatum, I would just remind everyone who led the league in turnovers last year, but I’m not doing that. It’s actually too easy,” said Scalabrine as he referenced one of Brown’s statistics.

The Celtics (3-1) are a half-game back of the 76ers (4-1) in the Atlantic Division standings. Boston will travel to Philadelphia on Nov. 10.
