A passenger’s foot became trapped between a train and the platform at the North Quincy MBTA station Thursday evening, transit officials said.
The incident happened as the person was stepping off the train, according to the MBTA. Bystanders on the platform stepped in to help, and the Quincy Fire Department arrived and took the person to a nearby hospital, the transit agency said.
The MBTA posted an alert on X Thursday afternoon alerting Red Line riders that the Braintree Branch was facing 15-minute delays “due to a medical emergency at North Quincy.”
“We want to thank fellow passengers and Quincy Fire Department who helped the rider this evening,” MBTA officials said in a statement to Boston.com. “We remind all riders to be mindful as they board and exit trains.”
Footage shared on Reddit Thursday evening shows bystanders assisting a person whose foot appears trapped between the train and platform. Riders worked together to push the train slightly to create enough space for the man to free his leg, the poster wrote.
