Former Australian opener David Warner on Australia’s decision, at the toss, to bowl first:
“Look, we’re sitting back here thinking it’s about the batting order, and they haven’t been scoring runs,” Warner told Fox Cricket.
“But the decision ultimately comes down to I think the coach and the captain.
“They’ll have an input with the analysts and the stats people around what to do, but I guess when you get to the ground you can put your spikes in the side of the wicket and get a feel of if there’s a bit of dampness or whatever.
“But that wicket there, the sun’s out.
“The Australian way is you’re batting first every day of the week, and I tell you what, Travis Head and Matt Renshaw are probably thinking ‘gee, I’d love to be batting on this’.”
