Browns head coach Todd Monken highlights an area of concern that needs to be cleaned up after the thrilling win over the Titans.
With the Cleveland Browns pulling off another late miracle to beat the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, 27-24, it marks the team’s fifth win over the last six games. As the Browns complete another insane finish to win the game, head coach Todd Monken would get real about the concerns that surround the team.
Tennessee would take an early 14-0 lead in the first quarter against Cleveland, starting the team on a bad track, but the Browns would storm back with 17 unanswered points to close out the first half. Cleveland’s game-winning drive would feature a controversial play that could’ve set them back by a false start penalty, with under 30 seconds left in the game, but a no-call would lead to a chunk play and the field goal to give them the victory.
Still, Monken would describe the performance as “not perfect at all.”
“We’re gonna have to figure out how to start faster. That’s for damn sure,” Monken said, according to Camryn Justice. “Felt a lot like last week. I told the team, 10-0, then 14-0. But there’s something about this group. There’s just something about those guys that play the next play and continue to fight for each other. And again, we had plenty of opportunities.”

Todd Monken on how the Browns performed “all the measurables”
Monken would praise the Browns for their resilience to keep battling throughout the game, but would also include that the Browns “weren’t perfect.” Aside from the two turnovers, Monken liked the 183 total rushing yards by Cleveland, thought the passing game was “efficient” with Deshaun Watson’s 308 passing yards, and overall said that the team was better at “all the measurables.”
“So again, credit to our guys to keep battling, and that was a fun one. Never looks the same, but feels the same. I can tell you that,” Monken said.
The win for the Browns now puts the team at 5-2 and at the top of the AFC North, though they have the same record as the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, the two teams do face off on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 1, which will give the division a clear first-place team.
