Singapore Airlines adds 1,328 extra seats a week with record Adelaide flights

Adelaide Airport has reached a new international aviation milestone, with Singapore Airlines launching a record 12 direct flights a week from Sunday 25 October, delivering more services than any international airline has ever operated year-round to the South Australian capital.

The expansion adds 1,328 extra seats every week, providing more opportunities for South Australians to travel overseas and making it easier for international visitors to reach the state.

The two additional weekly services mean Singapore Airlines will now arrive in Adelaide every afternoon, with an additional five morning arrivals each week.

The increased schedule also provides greater access to Singapore’s Changi Airport, one of the world’s busiest international aviation hubs, connecting South Australians to destinations across Asia, Europe and beyond.

Singapore Airlines has been flying to South Australia for 42 years, making it the state’s longest-serving international airline.

Adelaide Airport Managing Director Brenton Cox welcomed the expansion.

“This expansion delivers unprecedented choice and flexibility to passengers looking to access Singapore and the airline’s vast global network, while providing our local exporters with the frequent, reliable connectivity needed to grow international markets.”

The announcement comes as South Australia’s international tourism industry continues to grow, with visitors from Singapore spending $73 million in the state in the year to June 2026, an increase of almost 70 per cent compared with the previous year.

Tourism Minister Emily Bourke said the additional flights reflected growing confidence in South Australia as an international destination.

More flights will also provide significant benefits for South Australian exporters, particularly those transporting fresh seafood, meat and other premium produce to overseas markets.

The state’s air freight exports increased by 54 per cent in the year to August 2026, with 23,100 tonnes of goods transported by air, valued at $926 million.

South Australia’s seafood exports have also grown by $29 million to $275 million, with products including Southern Bluefin Tuna, rock lobster, abalone, oysters and prawns reaching markets such as Japan, China and Hong Kong.

The expanded Singapore Airlines schedule follows several major international aviation announcements for Adelaide Airport in 2026.

Cathay Pacific has increased its peak services, China Eastern launched direct flights from Shanghai in June, and China Southern Airlines is preparing to increase its Guangzhou services to daily flights during the December to March peak period.

Passenger numbers at Adelaide Airport have also continued to climb, reaching 9.18 million in the year to August 2026, an increase of 4.2 per cent.

Singapore Airlines Regional Vice President South West Pacific, Foo Chai Woo, said the additional services would support growing passenger demand and international trade.

“Our 12 weekly services will provide customers with greater choice and connectivity, while supporting strong passenger travel demand and airfreight flows between Adelaide and key international markets.”

The additional Singapore Airlines flights are now on sale.
