Ezri Konsa opened the scoring with his maiden goal since joining the club from Villa, providing Arsenal with the breakthrough they needed against a stubborn visiting side.
Gabriel added the second to seal the victory and ensure the North London side would finish the day on equal footing with the reigning champions at the summit.
The result means Arsenal capitalised fully on City’s slip-up in the Midlands, putting them right back in contention at the top of the table. The clean sheet also extended their defensive solidity at home, whilst David Moyes’ squad’s search for an away win continues.
At Villa Park, City experienced their first setback of the season as the home side claimed a memorable 2-1 win.
