FIRST LOOK: Notti’s Pizza brings hot honey, sourdough, and a takeaway pantry to Torrens Park

Hot honey pepperoni, garlic prawns with ’nduja and a char sui pork creation are coming out of Notti’s Pizza, which has officially opened in Torrens Park, with locals already showing plenty of love for the new neighbourhood spot.

Run by chef Jamie Laing and his wife Emily, the Springbank Road pizzeria has been busy since opening, with an enthusiastic response from locals prompting the couple to introduce a new pre-ordering system.

When Glam Adelaide first spoke to Jamie in July, the couple were preparing to take over the former Ey Fonzi’s site, with plans to create a relaxed neighbourhood pizzeria offering something a little different from the usual takeaway.

Now, with the kitchen up and running and the full menu in place, those plans have become a reality.

“It was like no one had had pizza for a while,” Jamie said, describing the number of people arriving and calling to place orders during the first few days.

The finished menu brings together familiar favourites and more adventurous combinations, all built around the venue’s slow-fermented, hand-stretched sourdough bases.

Among the standouts is the Notti Hotti, topped with pepperoni, house-made hot honey, stracciatella and Grana Padano, while the Notti Boy takes things in a different direction with house-made char siu pork, kimchi, sesame, nori and spring onion.

There’s also the Shroom Service, combining slow-braised mushroom ragù, stracciatella, truffle cream and thyme, and the Prawn & Nduja, featuring garlic prawns, romesco, mozzarella, feta, chives and lemon.

For something more traditional, diners can opt for the Queenie with tomato, fresh mozzarella and basil, while The Patch makes use of seasonal vegetables, goat’s curd and salsa verde.

The rotating specials give Jamie room to experiment further, with a cheeseburger-inspired pizza featuring wagyu beef, cheese, pickles, mustard and a sesame crust among the latest creations.

Despite spending two decades working in Adelaide kitchens, including Magill Estate and Maximilian’s, Jamie said moving into the world of pizza-making has brought some new challenges.

“It’s been a bit of a learning curve from what I’m used to, but it’s been good,” he laughed.

And there’s more than pizza on offer. The couple have also introduced a selection of take-home meals, including homemade lasagne and pasta sauces, alongside a small pantry stocked with dried Italian pasta, tinned fish, anchovies and other specialty groceries.

It’s a handy addition for locals wanting to grab something for dinner later in the week while picking up their pizza.

The record player mentioned in the couple’s original plans has also found its place in the shop. While Jamie is still building the vinyl collection, records make an occasional appearance, adding to the relaxed atmosphere.

Following the busy opening, customers can now pre-order online from 9am, selecting a collection time that suits them across the pizzeria’s Wednesday to Sunday trading days.

The system means those heading home from work or planning a weekend takeaway can organise their order ahead of time and have their pizza ready when they arrive.
