The original Doxy was the first sex toy I ever wrote about on this site, and ever since I tried it I’ve been obsessed. I’m not the only one – since it launched it’s become a staple in the drawers of many sex bloggers, readers, and plenty of my friends as well. I’ve mentioned it so many times that even a horny writer like me started struggling to find new ways I could say ‘this is fucking awesome, I love humping it’. Lucky for me, then, that recently Doxy has had a complete overhaul and relaunched some of their toys – redesigned and improved – providing the perfect opportunity for me to fall in love all over again. Let’s talk about the new Doxy Die Cast Max.
Firstly, a quick bit of admin: Doxy as a company sponsors my site and they gave me this toy for free. But, as with any sponsor toys I receive, if I didn’t like it I wouldn’t bother writing about it. Fortunately this new toy arrived in my life at exactly the moment when I most wanted to hide under the blankets, so when I tell you I’ve put it through its paces, what I mean is that I have been using it roughly twice a day for the last two weeks, in between bouts of feeling very sad about life. The fact that it’s been able to rip physical pleasure from my body even as my mind is falling to bits is, I think, testament to what a kickass fuckwand it is. But you should know up front that I’m not an unbiased sex toy reviewer, just an enthusiastic wanker with a drive to chase ever-more-interesting orgasms.
I’m delighted to report that the new Doxy Die Cast Max provides plenty of those.
What’s all the Doxy fuss about?
Before I explain what I love about the new Die Cast Max, it might help to explain why I go wild for Doxy toys in the first place: it’s the depth of the rumble.
*dons lab coat*
You see, although my clit is very sensitive on the surface, when we’re talking sensitivity, the surface is just the beginning. The clit is a bit like an iceberg – there is a lot more to it beneath the little (or in my case – large) nub that you can see with the naked eye. Here’s a diagram.

Imagine me pointing at it with one of those little metal sticks that you get in a lecture theatre.
I can’t speak for everybody with clits, but I do know that many of us feel like the surface-level vibrations you get from some small bullet vibes – while often brilliant – don’t always give you the intensity of orgasm that you can get from deeper stimulation.
Imagine a sound wave – that’s essentially what vibrations are like. With less powerful vibrators these waves usually travel a little way through your skin and clit beneath the surface. But with a Doxy they travel so much further – often, if you angle it right and use the best settings (more on this later), the waves travel all the way through your body to your arse, encompassing pretty much every nerve ending of your clit. At least, they stimulate enough of my clit that I can’t imagine there are any parts of it unaware they’re currently being railed like it’s their birthday.
It’s one of the reasons why, when I use my beloved Zumio clit vibe, I always need to pair it with an insertable dildo. I can come from surface clit-stim, but it’s not as satisfying as the full-body shudder-cums that I get when more of my internal clit is stimulated.
*reluctantly removes lab coat, because the phrase ‘full-body shudder-cums’ probably isn’t scientific enough to justify it*
You get what I mean though, I think: the rumbling vibrations of a Doxy travel further through my body, and encompass a greater proportion of my internal clit than other toys.
And the new Doxy Die Cast Max does this… but more.
How does the new Doxy Die Cast Max compare to the old one?
I’ll level with you: even if the new Doxy Die Cast Max was exactly the same as the old one, I’d still love it. But I can’t give you a direct comparison because many years ago I gave my old Die Cast away to a guy who wanted to use it to pleasure/torture eagerly consenting men he was playing with. Thanks to his experiments, I am given to understand that this toy also works very well on cis guy’s dicks if they’re into vibration, but I won’t speak too much on that because it’s not my story to tell. If you have experience in this area and you’d like to write me hot guest blogs about it, you know what to do.
Because I am a selfless and kind individual who gave away my old Doxy Die Cast (it’s OK, I still had my original Doxy, Doxy Number 3 and Doxy 3R to play with – my motto for a life of happy wanking is that with any given Doxy it’s always helpful to have at least two working backups), I can’t do a direct comparison. But here are a few things off the top of my head that I think are different about this new Doxy:
- It is quieter. I don’t normally care about this sort of thing because I live alone, and I use power tools for DIY anyway so I have plausible deniability if the neighbours ever start asking questions. But I know a lot of other people do care about this, so I’ll tell you I think it’s noticeably quieter than my older Doxy Die Cast. It is still quite loud though, because it’s powerful as fuck.
- It is prettier. The old Die Cast I had came in brushed aluminium which was gorgeous, but this new one comes in a selection of colours including purple which is obviously the best.
- The vibrations feel more thorough. They feel like they’re a slightly higher frequency when I turn the toy on, but once I get going they travel further through my body. I prefer lower frequency vibrations, so whenever I fire this thing up I always do it on the ‘pulse’ mode (see below).
Things that are the same:
- Settings! There are two key modes in which to use the Doxy. The first – just turn it on, then turn the intensity up or down – will give you a consistent vibration to play with, at whichever level works best for you. Whatever intensity you prefer, you can then grind against the toy (or move it around, whatever) and it will give you that consistently (and powerfully) until you turn it off. But if, instead of just hitting the ‘on’ button, you hold that button down for a few seconds, the Doxy will start in ‘pulse’ mode, where it delivers a burst of vibration at an intensity that slowly ramps up until you get a shuddering THUD and it returns to the start of the sequence.
It feels a little something like this:
r r r r r rrrrr rrrrr RRRRR THOMP [brief pause while you hang for a second just on the edge of coming] r r r r r rrrrr rrrrr RRRRR THOMP [another split-second pause while you grit your teeth and think fuck fuck fuck please I’m so close] r r r r r rrrrr rrrrr RRRRR THOMP
Imagine that final ‘thomp’ sending a ripple through your body like the glass of water on the dashboard of the car in Jurassic Park. Except instead of heralding the arrival of a T-rex, the thing that’s coming is you.
How does it compare to the Original Doxy?
The Original Doxy that I have at the moment is the older version, from before the company relaunched all their stock. In a way this is annoying because I am not comparing like-for-like, but in another more important way it’s actually quite convenient: if you’re in love with Doxy products and considering upgrading yours, chances are the one you have in your toy drawer is one of these old-version Original Doxys.
So for completeness, and because I wanted to have another wank (you can’t stop me!) I did a side-by-side comparison of the two.
It’s only when you compare them one after the other that the difference in power between Old-Doxy and New-Doxy becomes noticeable. Or rather ‘intensely, orgasmically-screaming obvious’.
My beloved old-version Doxy seemed pretty weak by comparison to this new Die Cast Max, even though it’s definitely not weak – not by any stretch of the imagination. I was right about the rumbles in the new one travelling further, and I think they also thud a bit harder too – especially when you get to the peak/pause moment on ‘pulse’ mode.
So if you’re looking to upgrade your old Doxy, you should definitely consider grabbing this one, or adding it to your Christmas list. As well as giving you much more OOMF at the top range of your power-wanks, if you’re childish as fuck like I am, when you own TWO Doxys you can take a picture of yourself dual-wielding them like a badass/loser.
I may not share photos of myself very often, but I think we can all agree that when I do it’s spectacularly underwhelming. I am quite hench these days, though, so you’re welcome.
Want to buy the new Doxy Die Cast Max?
Pick up the Die Cast Max direct from Doxy for £159.99 and use the code GOTN15 to get 15% off. Winter is drawing in, so it’s wanking season my friends.
If you’re looking for a different Doxy product, check out some of the other revamped toys.
- Doxy Go £59.99 – compact, cheap and cute as all fuck.
- Doxy Original £99.99 – these are out of stock at the time of writing, but I’m including them here so you know they’re on their way. They’ll have the same motor and drive as the Die Cast Max, but with a plastic body so they’re lighter and easier to handle.
- Doxy Die Cast Max Cordless £169.99 – the cordless version of the one I’m writing about here, which I know some people prefer for manoeuvrability during a shag. Personally I’m happy with a cord, though, because I am often very bad at remembering to recharge things, and have occasionally been caught with my pants down when toys have lost battery midway through rubbing one out.
