A Premier League footballer has escaped injury after his car overturned near Hull City’s training ground, less than three weeks after a team-mate crashed on the same road.
Lucas Gourna-Douath is believed to have been behind the wheel of a Mercedes pictured lying on its side on Millhouse Woods Lane in Cottingham on Thursday morning.
The incident follows a crash involving Wales winger Sorba Thomas, whose Land Rover Defender overturned near the club’s training base last month.
Humberside Police confirmed emergency services attended Thursday’s collision and said nobody was injured.
“Officers and emergency services were called to reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision on Millhouse Woods Lane in Cottingham at around 8.30am this morning (Thursday, 1 October 2026),” the force said.
“Thankfully, no one was injured as a result of the collision.”
Photographs shared on social media showed the Mercedes resting on its side in the residential street, with two police officers standing nearby.

Hull Live reported that the vehicle belonged to Gourna-Douath and that the midfielder had walked away unharmed.
Police’s statement confirmed the location, time and absence of injuries but did not name the driver or explain how the vehicle overturned.
The second crash has brought attention to a road where residents had already raised concerns before Thomas’s accident.

Local councillor Phil Redshaw said there had been “a few near misses” and revealed he had contacted Hull City about driving around the training ground.
“I wrote to the Hull City club secretary on Sunday asking them to remind players to be careful driving down the road because of the residents’ concerns,” he told The Mirror.
“I wanted them to remind their staff to drive with extra care, because they get new players in every season.”
Those comments concerned safety on the residential route. The cause of Thursday’s collision has not been established in the information released by police.
Thomas, 27, was involved in his crash on September 11, with photographs showing his Land Rover Defender overturned and its windows damaged.

Hull issued a statement confirming the winger had sustained no injuries.
“Hull City is relieved to confirm that Sorba Thomas is unharmed following a road traffic accident near to the club’s Cottingham training ground,” the club said.
“The club is aware of images of Sorba’s car circulating on social media and can reassure supporters that he has sustained no injuries and emerged from his vehicle completely unscathed.”
