The UAE pair won 6-3, 7-6 in the first round of the women’s doubles competition in Japan.
Fatima Al Janahi and Aisha Al Awadhi gave the UAE a winning start in the women’s padel competition at the Asian Games in Japan.
The pair beat Lebanon’s Lilia Msayki and Maria Bredi 6-3, 7-6 in the first round of the women’s doubles at Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
Al Janahi and Al Awadhi took the opening set before being pushed harder in the second.
They led 5-4 and served for the match, only for Lebanon to break back. The UAE pair recovered and closed out the set 7-6 to complete the straight-sets victory.
Al Awadhi said their understanding on court helped them through the difficult moments, while Al Janahi pointed to patience and their ability to handle pressure.
They will next face Japan’s Saki Tsukamoto and Kai Tokumoto in the women’s doubles.
Faris Al Janahi and Abdullah Al Abdullah will also compete for the UAE in the men’s doubles, where they face the Philippines pair of Abdulqaher Alyan and Raymark Golfo.
