Some of the biggest names in world rugby will be training across Adelaide next year, with four local venues officially selected as bases for the 2027 Men’s Rugby World Cup.
St Peter’s College, Adelaide University West Beach, Norwood Oval and Unley Oval have all been confirmed among 29 outdoor training venues that will be used across Australia during the tournament.
The venues will host international teams preparing for matches at Adelaide Oval, giving the tournament a footprint that stretches well beyond the stadium itself.
And local fans could get the chance to see some of the sport’s biggest stars up close, with open training sessions planned during the pool stages of the tournament.
Each of the 24 participating nations will establish a Team Base in the city where it is playing during each match week, with exclusive access to its allocated outdoor training venue.
Teams moving through Adelaide will also have access to other high-performance facilities, including the South Australian Sports Institute, for gym, recovery and indoor training sessions.
The four Adelaide outdoor venues are St Peter’s College, Adelaide University West Beach, Norwood Oval and Unley Oval.
They form part of a nationwide group of 29 venues spanning Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Newcastle, Perth, Sydney and Townsville.
“Every great performance begins with exceptional preparation, and the selection of these Outdoor Training Venues highlights the depth and quality of the high-performance facilities Australia has to offer,” said Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027 Managing Director Chris Stanley.
“These venues will play a critical role in delivering an outstanding tournament experience for all 24 participating teams, providing the high-performance environments and support infrastructure needed to prepare for one of the world’s premier sporting events.”
The announcement comes after all 24 participating teams completed visits to their match venues and prospective Team Bases around Australia.
The 2027 tournament will be the biggest Men’s Rugby World Cup yet, expanding to 24 nations across six pools of four.
Adelaide is one of seven Australian host cities, with matches to be played at Adelaide Oval during the tournament from October 1st to November 13th, 2027.
The city’s confirmed fixtures include reigning world champions South Africa taking on Italy on October 3rd and England facing Zimbabwe on October 8th.

Fans looking to secure tickets will have another opportunity next week, with a 48-hour Visa Priority Sale beginning at 12pm AEST on Monday, September 28th. Remaining tickets from that sale will then be released to the general public from midday on October 1st.
