4 teens charged in Lynn McDonald’s melee

Four teenagers were taken into custody Wednesday in connection with a violent takeover at a Lynn McDonald’s over the weekend, police said. 

The Friday incident, caught on video and shared across social media, included a large group of people forcing their way behind the restaurant counter. An employee was pushed to the ground and repeatedly struck by masked people. 

Following a subsequent investigation, detectives identified four minors believed to have been involved and obtained warrants for their arrests, the Lynn Police Department said on Facebook. 

Police said their names will not be released because they are minors. 

The four teens were charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, trespassing, affray, and civil rights violation with injury, police said. 

The four young people are being held in juvenile detention centers while awaiting court proceedings, authorities said. 

“This remains an active and ongoing investigation, and detectives are continuing efforts to identify any other individuals who may have been involved in the incident,” police said.

The incident prompted reactions from local officials after the video spread online. Mayor Jared Nicholson said that he was “deeply concerned” by the incidents.

“We will continue to address violence when it occurs, hold individuals accountable and, just as importantly, work together to give our young people the support, structure and opportunities they need to succeed,” he said.
