Aditi Rao Hydari stepped out for the promotion of her new anthology film series Lust Stories 3 in a kurta set from designer Anushka Khanna. Styled by Sanam Ratansi, Rao Hydari wore a kurta featuring metal work and gharara pants with bandhani tie-dyed detailing. The short kurta-gharara combination is a signature style of the designer, and was previously spotted on Alia Bhatt, who wore the look to a family wedding.
The shorty ivory, round neck kurta has been embellished with metallic studs to form floral motifs, while the hem is lined with beaded tassels that add movement to the silhouette. The navy blue gharara features traditional bandhani motifs like chaubandi encased in zari borders which adds a ceremonial look to the pair of pants.
Rao Hydari wore impeccable gold shoes by Aprajita Toor, which ties in the gold accent of the embroidery on the gharara perfectly. She also made the bohemian choice of pairing her slicked-back ponytail, styled by hair stylist Ratani Pramanik, with a vibrant scarf. The scarf features pink and green flowers on it, which adds to the whimsy of the outfit.
For the jewellery, she turned to gold ear cuffs, adorned in diamonds, and multiple statement emerald rings from Indriya Jewels. Her makeup highlighted the no-makeup makeup trend which has come back into popularity this festive season, with more and more celebrities turning to it..
The bandhani tie-dye technique that originated in Gujarat almost 5,000 years ago is created by plucking the cloth with fingernails into many tiny bindings and dyeing it with vibrant colours. The heritage craft has made a comeback just in time for Navratri, which is the perfect time to wear it.
