Elementary student, bus driver injured in Mass. bus crash

An elementary school student and a school bus driver were injured in a bus crash in Westwood Tuesday, police said.

Around 3:37 p.m., officers responded to a report of a bus that crashed into a tree in the area of Downey Street and Phillips Brooks Road, the Westport Police Department said.

Police founds that a school bus had struck a tree on the side of the road, police said.

There were 15 students on the bus. No one sustained major or life-threatening injuries, officials said.

A student was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, Westwood Public Schools said in a statement. The driver was also transported to a local hospital; information about his condition was not released.
