Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, MP, met flood victims, rural workers, and autorickshaw workers during her visit to the Nilambur region on Wednesday (September 23, 2026).
She visited the house of Sajita, one of the six persons who died in the Kottapuzha flash flood at T.K. Colony, Amarambalam, on Sunday (September 20, 2026).
Ms. Vadra met Sajita’s relatives at Appankappu settlement at Pothukallu and enquired about their needs. She assured the family that she would take up their concerns and extend support.

She later met workers under the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (VB-G RAM G) at Kurumbalangode, Chungathara. The workers spoke about the difficulties they faced after the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme was replaced by the new scheme.
Ms. Vadra said the new scheme undermined the idea behind the employment guarantee law. She assured the workers that she would raise their concerns with the Centre and press for measures to address them.

At Chungathara, she also met autorickshaw workers and heard their concerns. The workers said rising fuel prices and the cost of spare parts were affecting their earnings.
They sought a fuel subsidy as an immediate measure. They also demanded an increase in the pension paid through the Welfare Fund Board and loans from the fund for vehicle maintenance.

The workers further demanded that the Transport department allow existing autorickshaw permits to be transferred to new electric vehicles.
Ms. Vadra said she would take up the issues raised by the workers with the authorities concerned. Aryadan Shoukath, MLA, accompanied her.
