Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has signed a new deal with the Premier League champions.
The Spaniard guided the Gunners to their first title in 22 years last season and is understood to have taken a sharp pay rise for his success.
The 44-year-old’s deal is expected to take him to a 10th year at the Emirates, according to the BBC, after he joined the club as manager in December 2019.
When speaking to the media last month, Arteta appeared to ease Arsenal supporters’ concerns.
He said: “They [the fans] don’t have to worry about any of that because I want to be here.
“I’m extremely happy, and I feel very grateful to work with the people I work with.”
The Spaniard has brought success to the Gunners, winning the FA Cup, three Community Shields and the Premier League title last season.
He guided Arsenal to their second Champions League final, losing to PSG on penalties.

His side have enjoyed a strong start to the season, winning four of their first five league games.
The Gunners lost their first match over the weekend to Brighton 3-0, with Arteta saying it taught his side a “big lesson”.
He said: “I am extremely disappointed. Brighton deserved it, they were the better team.
“And from our side, there are certain basics that you need to accomplish in football, especially in the Premier League, that we were very far from.

GETTY“In the first duel, the second ball, that put the game, especially how direct they were, in a really difficult place for us.
“On top of that, when we did regain the ball, especially in our own half, the amount of technical errors that we did, we didn’t respect any principle of play and that put us always on the back foot, so it was very difficult to control the game.
“It’s a big lesson for us all to understand what it takes to win at this level.”
Arsenal had only conceded once before losing to Brighton 3-0, with the last time they let in three in a game going back to nearly three years ago.

Arteta continued: “From the first throw-in you could sense it, it was so clear. We put ourselves in trouble one time, two times, three times, and we needed to get out of it much quicker than that.
“Credit to them. They overcame us, and they had another edge, another bite, and that’s something that at this level it’s extremely important to respect and to understand.
“That’s not going to take away what the boys have done in the last six or seven weeks since coming back from the World Cup, because with 18 players coming back and how we’ve competed and the amount of games we’ve won has been remarkable.”
The Gunners’ first game back after the international break comes against Leeds, who are undefeated in the league so far this season.
