Adelaide is starting the week under cloud and a cool southerly flow, but the city is heading for a much brighter run of spring weather, with sunshine returning from Tuesday and temperatures climbing steadily toward 30 degrees by Sunday.
For Monday, Adelaide will stay cloudy with just a slight chance of a shower early this morning, before conditions settle into a cool afternoon. The city is only expected to reach 17 degrees, with southerly winds at 15 to 25 km/h easing and tending southeasterly through the morning. After that, the forecast quickly improves. Tuesday brings a sunny day and a crisp morning low of 7 degrees, followed by a top of 21 degrees.
Wednesday keeps the sunshine going and marks the beginning of a noticeable warm-up. Adelaide is forecast to rise from 11 degrees to 25 degrees under sunny skies, with easterly winds becoming light during the morning. By Thursday, that warming trend really takes hold. Partly cloudy conditions are expected, but it will feel much milder, with a minimum of 16 and a top of 29 degrees. Northeasterly winds early should ease during the morning, and while there is a slight chance of a shower, most of the day looks dry.
The city should hold onto those warm spring conditions into the back half of the week. Friday is forecast to be partly cloudy with a top of 28 degrees after an overnight low of 17, with light winds becoming east to southeasterly during the day. Saturday looks much the same, with another partly cloudy day and 28 degrees on the cards, along with east to southeasterly winds of 15 to 25 km/h. Sunday rounds out the week as the warmest day of the stretch, with mostly sunny skies and a top of 30 degrees after a minimum of 17.
Across the rest of South Australia, the week begins cooler in the south and warmer in the north, with a few isolated features around the edges of the state rather than widespread wet weather. On Monday, there’s a chance of morning fog over the Nullarbor Plain, a possible isolated light shower about the southern agricultural areas, and a possible isolated thunderstorm near the northern border in the far northwest later in the day. Tuesday turns colder at first, with patchy frost about the agricultural area, but conditions are expected to be dry and mostly sunny statewide. Wednesday starts cold again in eastern districts with patchy frost, before isolated showers and possible thunderstorms develop in the far southwest and the far northeast corner. On Thursday, that unsettled patch lingers in the far southwest, with isolated showers and possible thunderstorms there, plus the chance of an isolated shower about southern coasts. Rainfall totals are expected to stay light, with less than 2 mm about the southern agricultural area and in the far southwest, although local falls of 2 to 5 mm are possible in the far southwest and near southern coasts.
