Tamannaah Bhatia is in full promotional mode for the publicity of her upcoming movie The Vvaan: Force Of The Forrest. For the film’s trailer launch in Mumbai, the actor turned to a vibrant yellow printed sari from New Delhi-based label Torani. The vibrant colour was already enjoying a moment this Ganesh Chaturthi, with several stars—from Kareena Kapoor Khan to Ananya Panday—choosing it for their appearances. Now, Bhatia’s drape reinstates it as this season’s favourite festive colour.

Called the Sunehra Amaltas Sari, Bhatia’s drape arrives in a colour that founder Karan Torani calls “teekha Basanti”, an incandescent yellow of amaltas blossoms at the height of summer. “Brighter than turmeric and warmer than sunlight, it is joyful, striking and unmistakably Indian,” he adds. The ensemble is crafted in featherlight pure georgette, brought alive with the brand’s signature phytomorphic chintz. The bold, generous motifs extend onto the border, where embroidered chevron detailing is layered with delicate lace and kachcha dhaaga resham work. The pallu takes the over-the-top narrative further with a chintz-style interpretation of the chakora—a mythical bird—that sits in its middle within a floral cage. “In poetry and folklore, the chakora is imagined as a bird eternally enamoured by the moon—a symbol of longing, beauty and devotion. Here, it becomes a quiet romantic detail within a sari already filled with movement and memory,” adds Torani.
A custom off-the-shoulder choli in pure raw silk with the recurring chevron neckline complements the georgette sari. “When Tamannaah and I spoke about the look, she said that she wanted simplicity, ease and the freedom to inhabit it entirely as herself,” he shares.
