Adelaide weather forecast for Saturday September 19th and the days ahead

Adelaide is set for a warm start, a brief cool change, and then a quick return to sunshine and spring warmth over the week ahead, with Sunday shaping up as the main day to watch as a front moves through South Australia and fresh winds sweep across the city.

Today is looking straightforward for Adelaide, with sunny skies and a top of 25 degrees in the city, a touch warmer through Elizabeth and slightly cooler along the coast at Glenelg and Noarlunga. It’s a pleasant spring day, but it will still carry that dry warmth that comes with northerly winds. UV levels are expected to reach High, so if you’re out and about between mid-morning and mid-afternoon, sun protection will be worth keeping in mind.

Sunday brings the week’s change. Adelaide should hold onto a mostly sunny morning, but cloud is expected to build later in the day as the front crosses the state. There’s only a slight chance of a shower in the evening, with little rainfall expected, but the bigger feature will be the wind shift. Northerly winds will be quite strong before turning west to southwesterly around the middle of the day, which will make it feel cooler by late afternoon and into the evening. The city is heading for 23 degrees after a mild overnight low of 17.

That cooler air settles in on Monday, which is set to be the chilliest day of the Adelaide stretch. Cloudy conditions are forecast with a top of just 17 degrees after a 10-degree start. While the chance of rain is very low in the metro area, it will feel noticeably different from the warm weekend, with southeasterly to southwesterly winds adding to the cooler feel.

By Tuesday, Adelaide bounces back quickly. A cold morning low of 7 degrees will likely be the freshest start of the week, but sunny conditions return and the temperature climbs to 21 degrees. From there, the city heads into a far more comfortable and settled run. Wednesday is expected to be mostly sunny and warmer again, reaching 25 degrees after a 12-degree minimum.

The warming trend continues into Thursday, with Adelaide forecast to reach 27 degrees under partly cloudy skies. There is a slight chance of a shower, but it doesn’t look like a washout by any measure. Friday follows a similar pattern, with a mild overnight low of 19 degrees and a warm top of 29 degrees under partly cloudy skies, plus a slight chance of a shower. After the cool start to the week, it’s a quick swing back to classic bright spring weather.

Across regional South Australia, the next few days tell a similar story, although conditions will be more varied depending on where you are. Most of Saturday stays dry and mostly sunny across the state, with above-average temperatures and freshening winds in the far west later in the day. On Sunday, isolated light showers are expected about the southern agricultural area during the afternoon and evening as the front moves through, while the far northwest has the chance of an isolated thunderstorm later. Monday keeps a slight shower chance in the southern agricultural districts and another possible thunderstorm in the far northwest, with temperatures dropping below average in the south but staying above average in the north. Tuesday starts cold, with patchy frost about the agricultural area, before dry and sunnier conditions take hold again for most districts. Rainfall totals to the end of Tuesday are expected to stay light, generally less than 1 to 2 mm about the southern agricultural area and in the far northwest.
