Police in Rajasthan’s Alwar have arrested the main accused and four others in connection with the murder of three young men, who were allegedly chased and run over by a car in the Aravali Vihar area.
The main accused, Sachin Meena, allegedly carried out the attack with his friend Sagar and others. A minor has also been detained in connection with the case.
The arrested accused were taken to a hospital for medical examination before being produced in court. During their appearance, some of the accused were seen limping and moving along the ground. A police procession of the accused was also carried out.
According to police, the five arrested accused are Sachin Meena, Sagar Meena, Amit alias Palta, Mahesh Saini and Tanmay alias Tannu.
3 FRIENDS KILLED IN ATTACK
Alwar Superintendent of Police Sudhir Chaudhary said the complainant had informed police that his son was travelling on a motorcycle with two friends near Laxmi Nagar Kali Mori drain at around 10 pm on September 12.
The accused allegedly followed them in a car and rammed the motorcycle, causing all three to fall. They were then allegedly attacked with iron rods, sticks, sharp-edged weapons and stones, resulting in their deaths.
Police said the three victims were friends and lived together.
Following the incident, police examined CCTV footage, collected technical evidence with the help of the cyber cell and used their informer network to identify the suspects.
MURDER ALLEGEDLY LINKED TO LOVE DISPUTE
According to police, Sachin was in a relationship with the sister of one of the deceased. Her family had arranged her engagement elsewhere.
Police said Sachin learnt about the engagement and allegedly called her prospective in-laws, threatening them and telling them about his relationship with the woman. The information was subsequently conveyed to her family.
Following this, the woman’s brother and his friends allegedly assaulted Sachin. Police suspect the triple murder was carried out as retaliation.
Investigators said Sachin had allegedly been following the three men for several days before the attack.
5 ARRESTED, MINOR DETAINED
After conducting multiple raids, police located the accused and arrested the five adults. During questioning, they allegedly admitted to following the victims in a Swift car and two motorcycles and carrying out the attack in a planned manner.
Police said the case is being taken up under an officer scheme to ensure a speedy investigation and strong prosecution. Investigators are continuing to collect evidence with the aim of securing stringent punishment for those found responsible.
Police said all five accused have been arrested within 48 hours of the triple murder, while further questioning is underway.
