A shooting that sent a suburb into lockdown is believed to be linked to a disturbance at a unit complex two days earlier, police have revealed.
It has now been more than 72 hours since a 37-year-old male was shot in the stomach at the corner of Karda Way and Yongka Rd in Hamilton Hill, in Perth’s southern suburbs.
Security footage showed a number of men sprinting from the area just after 4.30am on Sunday.

Another could be seen staggering behind, clutching at his abdomen.
He eventually called out for help on Owen Pl and a member of the public provided first aid before he was rushed to hospital.
“Just some yelling, a bit of commotion and then a loud bang,” Hamilton Hill resident India Forbes said on Sunday.
Another local said they were “very shocked”.
“I’m a bit shaken up,” Sadie Delahay said. “So close to home.”

The injured man has since been discharged from hospital.
In an update, WA Police said they had raided a home in Aveley, in Perth’s north, on Monday where they took one person into custody. They were later released without charge.
It was also revealed detectives had linked the shooting to a disturbance at the entrance of a unit complex on Karda Way on Friday.
Police are investigating whether a dark-coloured Holden Commodore was driven at a man.
“I certainly think the investigators have good appreciation of who’s involved and what the circumstances were,” WA Police Commissioner Col Blanch said on Wednesday.
“That’s not something I’m going to release at this point. The team are making exceptional progress.
“It’s a very confined event. We believe all parties are known to each other.
“But we, again, are in the process of building a brief against those involved.”

No firearm has been seized, the commissioner confirmed.
Blanch said he did not know if the man shot was cooperating with police.
