Adelaide weather forecast for Tuesday September 15th and the days ahead

Adelaide is in for a chilly but mostly settled week, with cloudy skies today giving way to brighter conditions, crisp mornings and a welcome warm-up by the weekend. For locals, it’s a week that starts cool enough for an extra layer and ends with spring sunshine and temperatures climbing into the mid-20s before a slight chance of showers returns later Sunday and Monday.

Today will stay cloudy across Adelaide, with temperature only reaching 17 degrees in the city after a cool start to the day. Southerly winds at 15 to 25 km/h will gradually turn southeasterly this evening, keeping things brisk, especially near the coast. While there’s only a slim chance of rain, the day will feel fresh across the metro area, with tops of 16 degrees at Elizabeth, Glenelg and Noarlunga, and just 14 degrees at Mount Barker.

From Wednesday, the city heads into a calmer and brighter run. Adelaide is forecast to be partly cloudy with a low of 7 degrees and a top of 17 degrees, while light winds become southeasterly during the morning before easing again in the evening. It will be one of those classic September mornings that feels properly cold at first, before the afternoon becomes far more comfortable.

Thursday continues that pattern, with sunshine taking over and light winds helping make for a pleasant spring day. After a minimum of 6 degrees, Adelaide is expected to reach 18 degrees. Friday brings a more noticeable lift, with sunny conditions and a top of 22 degrees. Northerly to northwesterly winds will move through during the morning, helping push temperatures up after another cool start of 10 degrees.

The warmest day of the stretch looks set to be Saturday, when Adelaide reaches a sunny 25 degrees. Northwest to northeasterly winds will keep things feeling mild and bright, making it the pick of the week for getting outdoors. Conditions begin to shift again on Sunday, with partly cloudy skies, a top of 23 degrees and a slight chance of a shower as winds swing from the north and northwest around to the south and southwest later in the day. Monday looks similar, with a cooler top of 20 degrees, partly cloudy skies and another slight chance of a shower.

Across regional South Australia, the week begins on a much cooler note, with below-average maximum temperatures expected through much of the state until later in the week. Southern agricultural areas may see isolated light showers this morning, while the far northwest could see isolated showers and thunderstorms. Cold mornings are on the cards from Wednesday through Friday, with patchy frost likely in some areas and patchy fog possible on Thursday morning.

Conditions will stay mostly dry and sunny for many districts, though the northeast can expect fresh and gusty southeasterly winds midweek. By Friday, maximum temperatures are forecast to rise to mostly above average, while rainfall totals remain light for most southern districts. Higher falls are possible in the far west, where 5 to 15 mm is forecast, with isolated local totals of 15 to 30 mm possible.

For Adelaide’s coastal waters, today brings southerly winds of 15 to 20 knots, tending southeasterly in the evening, with seas around 1 metre and up to 1 to 1.5 metres north of Grange. Conditions ease through Wednesday and Thursday, with lower seas and lighter winds, before northerly breezes return on Friday under sunny skies.

Happy Tuesday!
