A family was assaulted by hotel staff following a dispute over vehicle parking in West Bengal, during their vacation. Several members of the family, including women, men and an elderly person, were reportedly injured in the altercation.
The incident took place after the tourists parked their car while visiting a hotel to inspect a room. According to Mohammad Asif, who was travelling with his family, an argument broke out with employees of the Swarnamoyee Beach Resort, following which the hotel staff allegedly attacked them.
A video purportedly showing the violent clash has since gone viral on social media, bringing renewed attention to concerns over the safety of tourists visiting the coastal town.
PARKING DISPUTE ESCALATES INTO ASSAULT
According to Asif, the family had travelled to Mandarmani for a holiday. They parked their vehicle after arriving at the Swarnamoyee Beach Resort to look at a hotel room.
The situation turned tense following an argument over the parking. Asif alleged that hotel employees, security personnel and the manager subsequently physically assaulted members of his family.
The attack left several tourists injured, including women, men and an elderly family member.
HOTEL MANAGER, EMPLOYEE DETAINED
Following the tourists’ complaint, Mandarmani Coastal Police detained the hotel manager and an employee for questioning.
The police action came after the family approached authorities over the assault. The detained individuals are being questioned in connection with the complaint.
A video of the altercation has also surfaced on social media and gone viral. The footage has drawn attention to the incident and raised concerns about the safety of tourists in Mandarmani, a popular coastal destination in Purba Medinipur.
The allegations against the hotel staff are based on the tourists’ complaint and statements provided by Asif. The exact circumstances surrounding the altercation will be established through the police inquiry.
