Former 7 News Queensland presenter Kay McGrath will share the story of her fiancé Richard Moore’s sudden death in a four-part special examining heart health and the warning signs of heart disease.
The Heart of It follows McGrath’s journey through love, loss and her determination to turn personal tragedy into a message that could help save lives.
The four-part special begins this Sunday 30th August at 6.00pm on Seven and 7plus for Queensland viewers, with new episodes airing through Wednesday.

Moore suffered a sudden heart attack while holidaying in India with McGrath in February 2025. Despite the efforts of doctors in Agra, he could not be saved.

The couple had visited the Taj Mahal the day before Moore’s death, with McGrath announcing the news on social media and describing her fiancé as her soulmate. They had been engaged since 2016.
Hundreds later gathered in Brisbane to farewell Moore at a memorial service, where McGrath delivered his eulogy.
Now, 18 months after his death, McGrath is using the skills that defined her career to try to understand what happened.
“I’m using my journalism skills to try and make sense of what happened to Richard,” she told followers in an Instagram video posted ahead of the special.
McGrath says she believes Moore may still be alive if they had recognised the signs that his heart was failing while they were travelling in India.
“I firmly believe that if we’d picked up on the signs that things were wrong with his heart when we were travelling in India, that he would still be alive today.”

The special retraces the events surrounding his death through interviews, medical expertise and firsthand accounts, examining the warning signs that went unnoticed and the circumstances surrounding his treatment in India.
It will also explore McGrath’s own health journey and Moore’s legacy, while highlighting the importance of recognising the signs of heart disease and seeking help early.
McGrath, who recently turned 70, stepped away from the Seven news desk in 2020 after four decades in television. She has continued with the network through special reports and other projects, while also working as a master of ceremonies and remaining heavily involved in charity and community work, including child protection.
The new series represents a particularly personal use of those journalism skills, with McGrath saying the process has also helped her deal with the grief of losing Moore.
“I think it’s helping me with my grieving process, and my big hope is that it will help save other lives.”
The special has been produced in partnership with the Heart Foundation and aims to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease, its risk factors and the early warning signs.
The Heart of It airs Sunday to Wednesday at 6.00pm on Seven and 7plus in Queensland.
