Turning the loan of goalkeeper Nathan Trott into a permanent deal, the capture of midfielder Jack Moylan from Lincoln City and the return of Calum Scanlon for a second spell on loan from Liverpool represent the Bluebirds’ incomings so far this summer.
Since then, they have suffered a number of injuries in central defence.
Will Fish, Dylan Lawlor and Calum Chambers all remain on the sidelines while Gabriel Osho could return to training in time to feature against Sheffield United on Saturday.
It meant full-backs Perry Ng and Joel Bagan played at the heart of the defence for their 2-2 draw at Derby County, whilst Cardiff gave a debut to 15-year-old Noah Anyadike in the cup defeat by Norwich.
Despite their selection issues in defence, Barry-Murphy doesn’t want to compromise on their targets.
“No, but I don’t want to confuse that for not wanting to bring players in,” he added.
“I think our supporters want to see people coming in and so do we.
“We do want to bring people in, and we have people that we believe we can bring in, so we expect that.”
