One clip shows a horrendous pass from Deshaun Watson during practice after being named the Cleveland Browns’ starting quarterback.
Cleveland Browns head coach Todd Monken announced Deshaun Watson as the club’s starting quarterback on Monday. The team opted to go with NFL experience over youth, despite Watson’s history of off-field issues. During Monday’s practice, the soon-to-be 31-year-old delivered a pass that might make fans’ stomachs turn.
Watson dropped back to pass in what appeared to be an 11-on-11 drill. He made a quick throw to his right toward Jerry Jeudy’s direction. However, Jeudy was running a route that took him out of frame, and the ball landed on the ground near absolutely nobody. It would likely be ruled an intentional grounding call if the throw happened in a game.

The Browns announced the decision to make the eight-year veteran the starting quarterback not long after Watson not-so-subtly called out the fanbase. He appeared to be upset after being booed so recently, along with the time he suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in the 2024-25 campaign.
But Deshaun Watson issued an apology for his comments not long after being named Cleveland’s starting quarterback. He edged out second-year quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who has become a fan favorite since being selected in the fifth-round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Watson will lead the way under center come Week 1 when the Browns take on the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road.
The three-time Pro Bowler has played incredibly poorly throughout his first three seasons playing for the Browns. Watson has only played 19 total games in Cleveland, accumulating just 3,365 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions while completing 61.2% of his pass attempts.
