After two joint practices in Foxboro, the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles will face off in a preseason matchup on Saturday night.
The Patriots hope to secure their first preseason win after tying the Indianapolis Colts in last week’s opener, 13-13. With starting quarterback Drake Maye watching from the sideline, backup Tommy DeVito completed 13 of his 22 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown. Kicker Andy Borregales’ struggles were the difference between a tie and a victory as he missed three of his five field goal attempts.
DeVito is expected to get the start again against Philadelphia as Maye and most of New England’s starters are reportedly unlikely to play. Borregales’ bounce-back effort, plus position battles at several positions including cornerback and linebacker, will be worth monitoring.
