Shedeur-Deshaun QB competition gets bold prediction

Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson are in the midst of their quarterback battle, and it’s still up in the air who the starter will be.

The Cleveland Browns are still in the midst of their quarterback battle, as it will come down to Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson winning the starting spot. After their preseason opener against the Chicago Bears, it looks like Watson gave himself the edge over Sanders, but there are still two weeks left for Todd Monken to evaluate.

Though Watson may be the Week 1 starter, ESPN Cleveland’s Aaron Goldhammer gave his prediction on what he thinks will happen throughout the season at the position.

“I think Shedeur is going to start the most games and win the most games,” Goldhammer said. “Although I think Deshaun will start the first game, and the Shedeur fans need to realize just because he isn’t starting the first game doesn’t mean he won’t start the most games, doesn’t mean he won’t start the most important games, doesn’t mean the season by-large won’t belong to him, it just means Deshaun is where the season will start for the Browns.”

It wouldn’t be a surprise if that scenario were to happen, but it depends on how Watson is playing to start the season. If he’s balling and the Browns are winning games, more times than not, he’ll stay as the starter.

In the event that his play doesn’t lead to the Browns winning games and Monken wants to see if they can find momentum elsewhere, then he may slot in Sanders. It’s almost similar to what happened last season for Sanders, but instead, it was because Dillon Gabriel suffered an injury.

It looks like the Browns could have two solid quarterbacks this season, but there’s a chance one of them doesn’t see the field. It’ll be interesting to see how the situation unfolds as the season nears.
